Small group communication is defined as interaction among a small group of people who share a common purpose or goal, who feel a sense of belonging to the group, and who exert influence on one another . When you lose your purpose or belonging in a group is when it falls apart. Falling into groupthink (influence becomes too heavy handed) is dangerous. When your ideas don"t become your ideas anymore, morphing into something that wasn"t intended. Importance of solid structure and procedure for groups. How is it a transactional process (reciprocal): validation, affirmation, acceptance, feedback on ideas, different perspectives. *face saving is huge in small groups absolutely vital.
