Document Summary
Lecture 4 film: return to regent park. Spatial: for years regent park was a slum", buildings were falling apart, 1953 redevelopment passed, don"t want to establish ghettoes of the poor . 17 year olds were selling crack the police don"t care . Drugs are coming into the park: wherever there"s drugs there"s going to be guns, wherever there"s guns there"s going to be prostitution . Regent park south: the people here are tremendous people , we can see the people, we can see what"s going on , it was good there before crack came out led to robberies. Church was asking the residents what they wanted to see in the new regent. Park : buildings needed to be rebuilt, they"re falling apart, looking at social redevelopment to change the way people are looking at their community. You can change the housing, but it wouldn"t change the people who are there. Smells bad bind always full of garbage.
