Blurring between conformity and deviance: tension reduction function. Drain off the tensions within the society. Safety valve for strains within society: hidden function (latent) Stress when you get cheated on they feel like its not back if no one gets harmed. ** excessive deviance is not normal, but its seen as rather pathological deeper problem that needs to be looked at, something that is ill.
