He said criminality and feeblemindedness were two aspects of the same degenerate state. Recessive genes passed on from one generation to the next. He did not take into account any environmental factors. Recent research shows that low intelligence has no direct causal impact on crim. The difference in iq score is a result of social/cultural and environmental rather than genetic factors.
