Reframing: transform the stigmatized meaning of the occupation, you want to infuse the job with positive value. ex sex workers might express the importance of their job so it stops further deviance. Recalibrating: when individuals adjust the standards that are used to access the magnitude and the worth of an aspect of the dirty work. Downplay the negative attributes of the job, and talk about all the good things of the job. Refocusing: put all the attention on the non-dirty aspects of the job rather than the bad aspects. Depersonalizations: distancing yourself from the clients that you are serving. Othering the group, calling them names, you can depersonalize the people physically, mentally, symbolically. Masculinity and sexuality become status shields so a way for them to show people that their job is heroic, has a huge amount of prestige, bravery ect.
