Document Summary

Pst model is a schema to organize and understand crime prevention initiatives. They seek to address the underlying social and economical and ebbed physical conditions that lead to crime. Primary: prevent occurrence of crime entirely. Conditions of physical/social environment provide opportunities and precipitate crime. Community: local problem solving and creating partnerships with community members. Social: initiatives that seek to address underlying exclusion such as inequality. Economic insecurity -> relative deprivation: in society, we are very focused on lifestyles. Ontological insecurity -> misrecognition: ontological = ourselves, continual uncertainty affects ontological insecurity. Individualism: in a market society, things become less based on merit, and things definitely become more unequal, and an ethos for every person prevails, competing against other individuals. Disemeddedness -> ontological insecurity: ex: internet - communication, so close yet so far. Essentialism: essentially defining yourself as a person, nationality, job, education, these things are fixed and unchanging.
