Why community: self-financing philosophy - communities are believed to posses all the prerequisite recourses already that need to be mobilized in order for crime to be targeted. Community has a level of skills about what is occurring in its midst. So if we have local institutions, and active citizens, then we have the resources to affect change. Lack of focus on larger societal structures/processes. Conflict between groups in the community often are ignored: because you only see certain parts of community represented. Social closure: majority of people end up being considered by their views. Shift in blame: agents in their own misfortune. Strengthen community norms that people share through interaction. Developing social organization: share prosocial ideas and values. Facilitate skills for direct intervention through training: to act as someone to listen to and become a role model. Strengthen social ties: education programs about active listening, events for speeches, etc .
