Crime narratives cultural artifacts (katz: representation of moral orders, moral order= social order, stories of right and wrong, who has power, how power, example, when it"s okay to break gender stereotypes and works when it"s not. Not passive dupes, takes issue with this. Moral anxiety plays scenarios to discuss (right versus wrong) 1970s vigilante: morally ambiguous, not necessarily totally cool with someone taking justice into their own hands. Contemporary vigilante: not quite as conflicting, intuitive/ the natural way of being, problems with the hyper masculinity linked. Shift to the present, not as important. You can take on any identity you want. Branding emerges that promises security: buying a home, a sense of security. All the things that come along are taking away that feeling. Disney taking it further by creating a town. As a business, they know if they want to break away from family they do not brand it as disney. Commercially arbitrated relationship with other human beings.
