Goal of the panel look at the state has created laws and policies that have led to the persecution of muslims. Muslims continue to be affected by national security measures- pre and post 9/11- but it doesn"t have to be that way. Canadian muslims represent 3. 2% of the canadian population: they are the most educated group yet the most unemployed this points to systematic discrimination. Nccm tries to combat this systematic: spoken out about public policy often, spoke out about bill-c51 many mps fought back against them. National security organizations are supposed to be protecting muslims, but they are targeting them: loss of trust due to lack of accountability that exists. There is no disciplinary action: shows a culture that reinforces the muslims insecurity. Going forward we need a recognition of mistakes and reform to culture. Thursday, september 27, 2018: large scale recruitment of minorities and training, audits and accountability measures need to be implemented.
