We are in a state where everything can cause controversy. The sugar industry sanctioned a research study on how sugar and heart disease/stroke correlate, they paid 3 top notch scientists to say that fat has more of an impact on heart disease (not sugar) scientific fraud. International criminal courts will now include cases against environmental destruction. The 2 other pillars of the received view: separateness, progress, determinism, technological determinism: technology is the primary factor that drives and determines cultural change. Plato also believed that the technology of writing would be the downfall of man. That once people learned how to write, their memory would not function well because people would rely on writing to help remember things, rather than actually memorizing things. Guns kill people: cultural determinism: culture is the cause, technology is the effect. Humans are everywhere when it comes to technology.
