Classical liberals believe that liberalism is a type of morality. Before the 19th century, liberal education was a kind of education trying to train people to be generous and tolerant. Being a liberal before 19th century meant being a gentleman. After 19th century, liberalism has turned into a political and economic ideology. Human wellbeing is advanced through maximization of entrepreneurial freedoms within social/economic institutions.
