Came into the ottoman period close to the end, called tanzimat (organization) Was not an information revolution however it was a development or formalized state systems. By 1800s ottoman government becomes way more centralized and used. Tax collection became more centralized (less understanding, unfortunately) More conscription, more taxes, census is introduced which moderates these things. Peasants who generate food to be shared are not too happy to be taxed, etc. Central powers (the empire), is criticized as a series of different units however this is what makes it a nice place to be. Emerging in western europe is all these nationalisms. This mix of centralization and nationalism makes for a powerful expansive force. This is when europe rises in its imperialism. Dutch, french, spanish, etc are all colonizing at their height. Slavery is still prevalent, not so much in the ottoman empire. Ottoman empire does not take part in all the imperialism. Told that it is soon to be divided.
