Race doesn"t exist, but racism does: no biological justification of saying there are different races of people, people no longer believe in the objectivity of race, there"s more genetic variation between the same races than others. Race = socially constructed idea based on a phenotypical and surface differences that are used to justify social inequality: differences in skin pigmentation = phenotypical. Racialization = process through which certain people become considered part of a different race : racialization doesn"t exist as an identity, but as they are considered as part of a different race. We come up with the idea that a group has a set of features and everyone in that group has those features: 4 aspects of stereotyping, the construction of otherness an exclusion . The self is white and the other is always racialized: stereotyping and power, the role of fantasy, fetishism.
