GEG 2108 Lecture Notes - Lecture 3: Great Lakes Region
Document Summary
The way we interact with our geography is unconscious and is something we are raised in. Socially constructed through our society"s world view. Two different people can look at the same place and understand it very differently because they approach it from two very different socially constructed views. Foundation of all world views is religious. The rst way that people tried to explain the world. World views change based on experience, what we know. A world view: is a way that people generate, sustain and apply knowledge. We thought mountain ranges come from two giants ghting, turns out they come from the contact of tectonic plates, our view changes with that knowledge. We come from pluralistic backgrounds; our way of understanding the world is infused with theses pluralistic backgrounds - multiple ways of understanding the same thing. Con icts can arise from this, power relationship; which group has the power to impose their believes.
