Shows that segregation is due to chemical affinity as well as density. Low density compared to earth: may have had an asteroid like body, knocking into the earth, flinging a part of the mantle/crust, creating the moon. Moon died an early death, not geologically alive. (no atmosphere, no plates,) small so it lost its heat rapidly. Moon is made of highlands and maria. Highlands have more craters, assumed to be older.
