How dead is dead? physical death (ways to keep people alive even after they died) Also social death: when family or others treat a person as if physically dead. Modern technology has changed definitions of death no longer just senior abandoned in a nursing home etc. (cid:524) to hold the funeral maybe a year or more has to pass before they can afford. Family may not acknowledge physical death until the family gets enough 7800$ it. Death is a process and well as a state when the body has not yet died. E. g: when society overlooks or ignores seniors (seniors with dementia; Thanatologist: specialize in the study of death and dying. Clinical death: heart stops pumping, breathing has stopped, no evident brain activity (but resuscitation is still possible); near death experience. Brain death: cessation of brain is functioning; person may still be able to breathe without assistance, may survive in permanent vegetative state or on life support; organ donation.
