Topics covered: successful aging, productive aging and civic engagement, selective optimization, seniors" activities of daily living (adls) and occupations, seniors" events, clubs and day programs, technology and seniors, age-friendly communities initiative. Theory: disengagement and activity theory both concern themselves with successful aging, but define what is successful in completely opposite ways, withdrawal vs. continuity in activities. Meaningful activity or occupation: occupation, groups of activities and tasks of everyday life which are name, organized given value and meaning by individuals and a culture, ex: being a student is more meaningful than just reading.
