Gets named editor in chief of pravda (bolshevik newspaper: shows how popular he becomes amongst bolsheviks. Gets named commissar of the nationalities by lenin. When lenin dies (1922) the question is who is going to replace him: lots of guys in his inner circle that were better positioned to replace him.
