First world war: final phase (1917 1918) They have to replace men sent to the front in factories, mostly ammunition factories. Women start delivering mail, clerical jobs, driving buses, working on farms, nurses. Short-lived transformation, after war things to back to what it was before. In germany and usa women get the vote shortly after wwi not a coincidence. Birth rates plummet in all major players in wwi: men are drying so they can"t reproduce or they are off in war and not at home having kids. Missing generation in between older people and very young people. Older guys in power stay in charge longer because there"s no one to replace them. Spanish flu: kills around 30-40 million people (some estimates say 100 million people, makes trend even worse, worse than black death. People become discontent with war both troops at the front lines and at home behind the lines: becomes problem for the countries involved.
