Depicted in the us media: as china was an example of communism on the move and american freedom was in peril. China falls to the maoists and becomes a communist state. Americans were shocked, which led to the red scare: american people became suspicious of their neighbours and friends, paranoid that they were communist. The russians sent over agents that were able to turn americans into communists. Some americans blamed truman for letting china become communist. The united states created non-military organizations like the cia to put muscle behind the words of truman: the us would defend freedom and ght against communism. Russia occupied the north, and us occupied the south in late 1940s. Each invested in a process to prepare their states for independence and to become autonomous states.
