Over the last decade china has emerged as one of global capitalism"s principal bene ciaries; the world"s factory and second largest economy. During most of post-war period in asia, the area was divided by the liberal west and socialist east. Mao focused on mass mobilization, it"s labour, and its internal resources to galvanize the people and accelerate development which led to mao"s great famine. Our principal focus shifts to china and the country"s turbulent postwar transition through the revolutionary res of maoism to evolving into the world"s workshop inside a global economy. China had a turbulent history, particularly under the mao regime. From 1970s-1980s, china made a 180 degree turn. Great leap forward - mao"s ambitious strategy for catching up to the west by harnessing the peasantry labour. Deng and china"s miracle - he set china on a course for modern industrialization and for becoming one of the world"s most successful capitalist states.
