Us and canada wasn"t devastated as much as europe. People sill worried about the coming back of depression. Liberal model of economy and the ulimate version of the american dream was acheived: communism collapsed, europe"s demised, american welfare state booms. America wasn"t just a diferent place but a utopia. You can move as a starving farmer and be beter. Its diferent than europe and there was opportunity for everyone. Idea of america: pioneer farmer, individualism; there were rags to riches stories, regardless of your religion and everyone can realize their dream.
