May 1945 germany surrenders at last the war is over. 1945 to 1948 the world was very pessimistic. Alcohol was used as an anti depressant to numb the pain. In 1944 countries tried to build a new economy of trading and democratic countries that trade with each other don"t declare war on each other. Create an international body that would make a stable playing eld as opposed to the great depression where each county made their own currency and looked out for their own economic interests which caused the economy to collapse. East wanted to kill the nazi and the west wanted to show the world that if you obliged then they would show mercy. Post wartime period contributed to the cold war.
