During the early weeks of the 1800s, every city in the united states commemorated the death of the former leader and general. His ideal was the yeoman farmer; greater expansion of american territory was important to him. He asked americans to come together in common efforts for the common good and he assured the federalists that he was committed to the rights of the minority. Moderation, played down ceremony and formality, and developed political relationships; he was a partisan politician. Jefferson was also concerned about entrenched judicial power. 1803 (marbury v. madison): this case threatened direct confrontation between the judiciary and executive legislative branches of the government; there was a precedent of court invalidating federal laws that conflicted with the federal constitution. Of all the branches, the judicial one is the weakest.
