Bacteria will develop resistance to any anibioic, this occurs more quickly in people who have immune system deiciencies, 2 types of resistance: Conjugaive transposons jump form one chromosome of an organism to another avoiding host-plasmid restricions, intregrons are dna elements with two lanking regions that encode funcions (anibioic resistance may be inserted: chromosomal alteraion/acivaion: Must be incubated (37) for microorganisms to grow and muliply. Light microscope: lenses used to manipulate light traveling between the specimen and the eye. Electron microscope: beam of electrons controlled by magneic ields used instead of a light source. Gram stain: has to do with the cell wall of bacterium: flood slide with crystal (or genian) violet. (wash with running tap water), flood with gram"s iodine. (wash with water), carefully decolorize with 95% ethanol. (wash with water). This third step is the most criical and also the one most afected by technical variaions in iming and reagents: flood with safranin (pink color). (wash with water).
