Two types of immunity: non-speciic (innate) & speciic (adapive, acquired: innate immunity: Its dry, bacteria need a moist environment to live. Makes it atracive for the immune system to atack. Adapive: protecive against one type of invader, dependant on past exposure: speciic immunity: Anibody: protein that binds speciically to a substance (its anigen) Produced by b-lymphocytes upon simulaion from anigen presening t-cells. Non-self if an anigen recognizes itself bad things can happen. Anibody: ig produced in response to simulaion by an anigen and reacing speciically with it. Constant and variable region variable region is responsible for anigen recogniion. Igg: host defense, crosses placenta and protects newborn. Iga: host defense, dimer, found in secreions (tears, saliva) Ab producion triggered on irst anigen introducion.
