Hospital infecion, infecion acquired by a paient during hospitalizaion. Most common infecions: urinary tract, respiratory, wound, skin, sot issue, sepicemia. Preventable: due to faulty medical techniques, like bad hand washing. Non-preventable: can"t be controlled, like surgeries where organs are seriously damaged. A paient may be a source of infecion for another paient. Person to person: endogenous (paients own lora) or exogenous (outside paient) Suscepible host: person infected with microorganism carried by one of the routes of transmission. Route of infecion: the way microorganisms leave source to infect host. Host: depends on how suscepible individual is, age, and immune status. Rendering the source non-infecious or prevening the microorganism from leaving source. Interferes with spread of infecious anigen through routes of transmission.
