Communication within the field of oncology consists of; physician-patient communication, physician-physician communication, patient-family communication, and physician-family communication. Each communication type is extremely important in the effectiveness of the care recommended by the oncologist. Currently, the communication within the field of oncology is quite effective. Generally, oncologists seem to have a good body of knowledge in terms of the use and importance of communication within their field of medicine. Arguably, the most important channel of communication in oncology is between the patient and the physician. Each of these factors contributes to how the diagnosis and treatment information is received.
