Before knowledge of causes of illness, ppl would say ppl with seizures were possessed by devil based on prejudices and made up stories of what would make you ill. Illness was thought of as a result of sin. Lack of education/appreciation of dangers of smoking. We kicked out big tobacco form n. america- so they moved to a country with few restrictions around smoking. We may have manufacturing companies here, so we still want to keep the companies employed.
