Important to look back to understand the legacy and the roots of what is present today and its patterns. True: is the body passive under the medical model. Under the social model, the body is not the problem. The way that is perceived of the body is the problem. Is the medical model about doctors: no, it is about understanding the body under a medical view. Idea that impairment and disability is very important to the social model. It is a common factor in life: key elements of the social model: distinction between impairment and disability, disabled people, society is the problem (cid:523)e. g: there are not enough ramps in buildings, etc (cid:524) By identifying that social barriers need to be removed, the social model has been effective instrumentally in the liberation of disabled people. It is a tool that demonstrates that those with disabilities face social exclusion. It places a moral responsibility on society to make changes.
