Intro to the major challenges facing contemporary global society with a focus on health and citizen responsibility. Themes addressed include among others: climate change, food security, war, hiv/aids, human rights, poverty and gender inequalities. Trying to make the entire world healthy, the year 2000 was the goal to complete this but it didn"t happen. Sdg became a new sort of goal, what is canada doing to help other countries with what they"re going through. Demonstrate an understanding of the basic challenges to health around the world. Draw and discuss connections between current global issues and population health. Identify the main actors of globalization, their role and their influence on global health. Understand personal and collective motivations in addressing global health challenge. Discuss the ethical issues of countries interventions to influence health abroad. Final exam (40%) cummlative: final exam format mcq, essay and short answer.
