As kids age they contribute back to the program as coaches (sustainability of the program. ) Challenges=lack of reliable human resources (late or no-show because of alcoholism etc. ) weather (storms stopping travel to tournaments), expensive (flying, logistics-difficult to bring people up north). Land-based programs: increase access to locally and culturally relevant development opportunities (things people need to understand to best survive. ) (community gardens, hunting, trapping, fishing. Using traditional survival practices in sustainable manner to preserve knowledge, pass on culture from elders to youth.
