Questions why things are done the way they are: holistic tendency ex: holistic health tending to see things as a whole rather than individual parts a response to, crisis of identity and meaning. People questioned their source of meaning in life, their identity in life. People began to put less emphasis on identity and meaning found in their work. People were finding that they could not develop or form their identity from one aspect of life alone. People were questioning and trying to make sense of society: vietnam war, feelings of despair, the fragmentation of life only gave the illusion of life rather than something meaningful. 1967: our intellectual emotional social and economic lives had been reduced to a series of still pictures which if sequenced at the right speed gave us the illusion of life but not the feeling of it.
