We do the same things when we are organizing programs within a community. Once we understand a programs mission, values and philosophy we understand the ways in which we must program for diversity we can start to look at the needs within the community and the assets that we can draw on. In order to develop ideas about programs and formats and the kind of people who need to be serviced. It"s very important to gather this data in order to insure the program is well run and responsive. Look at and asses skills of individuals and communities posses, the talents, experience levels, the needs, attitudes / behaviors of those who participate, and those who are not participants. Basic conditions that one needs to survive and insure quality of life.
