Involuntary admitted to hospital but there is a substitute decision maker: not necessarily against will, but you cannot competently decide of your own accord, ex. Schizophrenia pt and mother brings to hospital, pt is psychotic therefore cannot be deemed competent and you are admitted under decision of mother. They can also change from involuntary to voluntary at any time: form 1, order by physician application by physician for. Person can live ok in community if they are on medication but hx of discontinuing medication when discharged; therefore have nurse come and watch take meds, go to specific pharmacy to take pills, on long-acting injection. Important to remember that everything we do should have a therapeutic purpose: physical ex. Bed rail, wrist restraints, geri-chair: chemical psychoactive medicated used not to treat illness but to intentionally inhibit movement, behaviour ex.
