Partnering with the canadian mental health association to create public awareness and organize a fundraiser event to help support mental health education. Often, individuals with a mental illness are faced with multiple, intersecting layers of discrimination in almost every aspect of their lives. The stigma of mental disorder is more disabling than the illness itself. There are significant consequences to the public misperceptions and fears. Therefore, creating public awareness and organizing a fundraiser is an empowering practice that not only addresses concerns but actively pursues social causes. Become proactive/advocate for individuals struggling with mental illnesses. An opportunity to educate the public on mental illnesses/mental health. First step that needs to be taken is to have a meeting with the mental health promoter to discuss details of the event, action plan and expectations of the agency. Role confusion and power struggles among group members. Create a community vision: help support the canadian mental health association.
