Nurses, generally speaking enjoy a good public image however in the wake of difficulties and scandals that attract media coverage, the general reputation suffers. Care pathway (lcp) is meant to neither hasten or postpone death however has a very poor public image people think the government uses it to save money. Media represented it as an authoritarian approach to care that left no room for professional judgement and patient involvement. Sociology is concerned with understanding how society and groups within society work (social institutions) In nursing, sociological data can range from statistical information to qualitative data. Professions = a sub-set of occupations which have certain priveledges in work organization by virtue of the specialist knowledge that they possess and offer to the organization. Professionalism: ideology which describes the methods employed by the professions whereby the status of the professional is justified on the basis of their specialized knowledge and control of their professional activity.
