PHI 2396 Lecture Notes - Lecture 21: Human Reproduction, Genotype
Document Summary
Reproductive cloning involves the use of the uterus (bring the modified egg cell into maturity) and a very small amount of dna. The thing produced by cloning is that the genotypic difference between the clone and clone donor (source of the genetic code used for cloning) Roberson"s position has one worry that somehow cloning will lead parents to see their child differently; they might see them as not human or different in a problematic way . Roberson states that parents have children for many reasons. To use subtle or over means towards the cloned people there will be a deep change in the attitude that parents will have towards these cloned individuals. Annas thinks that cloning is bad because it brings about deep transformation in the way that people are produced and that there will be different parenting techniques as a result. The biological relationship between clone and clone donor is similar to that of siblings (twins more specifically).
