Wanted to stimulate students to stand on own feet. Never traveled more than 10 miles from hometown. Taught philosophy, mathematics, mineralogy, anthropology, geology and physics. 3 years to live at 30 (doctor diagnosis) Very punctual (people used him to tell time because of his consistency) Newton succeeded, wanted to display other information in same ways. Cannot prove existence of god by reason, but reason can show it is valid to belief in god through faith. Being able to step back and objectively examine actions and desires. Acting according to reason = how everyone should act. Dignity = ability to choose for themselves, their actions, values, etc. Act only on maxims you would have become universal laws.
