Document Summary
Mom was a midwife, socrates was also a midwife (knowledge/truth). Soldier, not handsome, short, flat face (stingray, but could sting you). 3 elements: unrelenting questioning, dialogue (herac), eternal essence (parm). Socrates got condemned for corrupting the youth (to ask questions: however, he argues that death is good: either a state of nothingness/unconsciousness or a change of migration of the soul (dialogue in heaven). Revolutionary for athenians: constantly contradictory and chaotic, but we can try to find essence. Wants to create a metaphysical theory (beyond-nature) Beyond what we can physically see, but not past the universe. The three metaphysical objects: world, self, god. Wants to establish the essence of things. The ideal tree is not physical (shadow), but the essence of itself. Our soul (anima), after death, is released and goes up to the realm of the forms/ideas. Our soul is our essence and therefore it gravitates to things alike (realm of ideas)
