Aristotle and plato both believe to b ful lled you have to be connected to and have a place in well ordered community. Plato believes for most people involvement in politics is not necessary other: most people need to accept their place in society and leave politics to the philosophers. Aristotle citizens need to be somehow involved in political activity: for him he excludes women and slaves because they"re not citizens, for citizens its necessary for their being. Crucially thing for aristotle participation in politics is a means of engaging in debate about the good life this is a distinct function of language. Language in low forms (animals its doesn"t count) Language has this higher level role and function in enabling humans in analyze experiences; re ecting and analyzing cant be done in full by people alone it involves engaging with others: this comes to be politics.
