Characterized by tight economic, political, cultural, and environmental interconnections and flows that make many borders and boundaries less relevant. But not a condition that is fully developed. But national and other imaginaries have not disappeared as meaningful sources of identity and belonging. Yet, the emerging global imaginary has weakened the national imaginary. A set of social process that transform the current social condition of conventional nationality into a condition of globality. Again, doesn"t mean that the national and local are becoming irrelevant. Only that they are being changed in terms of character and function by the movement toward globality. Involves the creation of new social networks and growth of existing links that cut across traditional political, economic, cultural, and geographic boundaries. Involved expansion of social relations, activities, and connections. Involved the intensification and acceleration of social exchanges and activities.
