Political tactics of social movement are unconventional, they perform more directly and its done to bring more attention to the public and sway its opinion. Members of the social movements are drawn from educated professions. There has to be a specific moment that sparks, therefore for a moment like this to happen, membership must be present (interest groups are similar as they need membership to sustain themselves) If they are successful then it is likely to continued action. Political opportunity structures: anti state and anti political, there has to be interaction with the political system. Configurations of power: protagonists, antagonists and bystanders, they have to figure out who their allies opponents and people who care about the issue are.
