Alternative models that are centred on non-dac donor states. What"s good for china may not be good for the rest of the developing world. Standard criticism: more recent history of colonialism. What about brazil: ruled by the mestizo population, much whiter than the general population. Maybe there should be no reason to assume that b/c they are not western countries they are better. Those critical of capitalism: criticism is not necessarily connected to the country itself but the system they operate on. Affect on legitimacy i. e. india helping afghanistan: comes from a similar background. In experiences, cultures, region, etc: more closely connected through trade, region, etc. Decisions made only on the presence of resources: minerals and oil that the developed country wants access to, help extractive capacities and get a discount on resources in return. Is that really how we want to choose who to help: what about countries who do not have lucrative resources.
