Document Summary
All learning involves the formation of association between two formerly unrelated/unassociated events; helps us adapt to our environment. A relatively permanent change in behavior due to experience e. g. learning to ride a bike. Linking two events that occur close together in time e. g. dog learning that a treat is a bone. Through consequences: operant conditioning( spray painting a building and getting a fine- response and consequence) Through acquisition of mental information that guides behavior: cognitive learning. A type of learning where we learn to associate two stimuli and anticipate events. Stimulus=seeing lightning, response= covering ears to avoid sound of thunder. Studies behaviors without taking mental processes into account. Ivan pavlov, john. b. watson, b. f. skinner. When a dog sees food it salivates(unconditioned response ur) When you ring a bell(this is a neutral stimulus(ns) because dogs don"t know what bells are or have any association with them) then give it food, it"s now a conditioned response (cr) after it"s learned now(ur)
