Theory fall out of favour but the idea that genes are partly responsible for human behaviour remains: drives and incentives. When our needs are not met, tension builds up in the body and we are motivated to reduce tension (i. e. : look for food, water, sex, etc. ) Drive theories explain some human behaviours (i. e. : whey we seek food) In the external world, there are incentives or rewards that pull us toward them (i. e. : money, grades, status, etc. ) We are motivated / pushed to attain this. It doesn"t explain all behaviours: optimal arousal.
