Social loafing: tend to exert less effort in group projects/working with a group, assumption that others are not going to work hard, so why should i work hard, assume less responsibility, to avoid social loafing. Deindividuation: in a crowd we feel anonymous. Can lead to self-awareness and social identity to come down: we act unlike ourselves. Group polarization: our ideas and beliefs become stronger when in a group/part of a group discussion, this may be a good thing or a disaster. Janis (1982: when members of a group are over-supportive of harmony, agreement they disregard others. Prejudgment: reaching a premature conclusion without having all the facts. A negative attitude towards members of another group. Not supported by facts and based on insufficient information. Explicit: the person is conscious and aware of their prejudice. Prejudice is universal, contrary to the assumption that only mental people are prejudice. Mental shortcuts: to simplify, to free up mental resources for other things, categorization.
