Our nurture begins long before we are conceived. The time spent in the womb is the rst environment we are exposed to. Even though twins share the same womb, it is not necessarily the the same environment (ie. one twin better protection, nutrition, oxygenation, etc. : experience and brain development. Experience is essential for proper development of the brain, therefore babies must be exposed to stimulation of everyday life. Parents in uence children"s attitudes, values, manners, politics, and faith. Parenting wields its largest effects at the extremes. In personality measures, shared environmental in uences from the womb onward typically account for less than 10% of children"s differences. Children are not easily sculpted by parental nurture: peer in uence. Peers are individuals of the same age/maturity level. Babies who have better interactions with their peers will most likely exhibit the same action in the future. Selection effect: our own tendencies/preferences lead us to nd peers with similar tendencies/preferences.
