In order to grab something, the infant needs to have a 3d map. Piaget"s theory: need to know the definitions of the words schemas assimilate, we build up schemas and assimilate new experiences. We know that a book has a story but we don"t know that there is more than one book. After reading the story to you, they ask you to get another book. Sensorimotor stage: object permanence: objects continue to exist if you can"t see them. Preoperational stage: at this stage there is lack of conservation. Theory of mind: this is where kids learn they can manipulate people. Concrete operational stage: route planning: you can do short cuts. You can take a new route, you have a global map in your head. Infants have to know you"ll be there for them.
