Coping with stress: strategies that we use to deal with a stressful situaion, can be adapive (doesn"t something to help) or un-adapive (doing something that makes it worst) Problem- focused: ind the problem and ix it (works best if the problem can be solved) Emoion focus: deal with the emoion that is caused by the stress (when you can"t ix the problem) Learning: learn from our mistakes and problems. Making social comparisons: compare ourselves to people who are doing beter than us. Compare ourselves to people below us, not puing people down but shows how bright and great you are, ahead of the game. Humor: laughing makes the nervous system slows down. Learned opimism: opimisic people are happier and healthier. Perceived control: in charge of your own life and able to cope with life. Social support: feeling accepted for who you are by friends and family and you feel safe being who you are.
